SOUTHAMPTON USURP CHELSEA WITH WIN

Southampton have moved ahead of Chelsea on the Premier table after their 2-1 win. Former Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers striker Adam Armstrong scored the winning goal in first half added time as Southampton bagged their first three points at home this season.

Chelsea were in sixth spot before the game against Southampton who were number thirteen on the 20-team league table. With the aforementioned win, Southampton moved six places up the table to seventh spot while Chelsea drop two places to eighth spot.

Southampton began the season with a two-match winless run against Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United. They scored first before hosts Spurs replied with four goals for a 4-1 win on the opening weekend of the season. The Saints showed character and fighting spirit At home as they came from two goals down for a 2-2 draw with Leeds United thanks to the goals from substitute Joe Aribo and Kyle Walker-Peters. They bagged their first win of the season with the 2-1 comeback win at the home of bottom team Leicester City. The hosts had taken the lead through James Maddison in the second half before Che Adams replied with a brace to win the game for his team having come off the bench.
They could not get a win against Leeds United in their first home game in the league this season and they suffered the same fate in their second home game after the 1-0 loss to Manchester United. Portuguese international playmaker Bruno Fernandes was the captain for Manchester United during the game and he was responsible for the only goal of the game in the second half. Southampton eventually bagged their first league win at home at the third time of asking with the 2-1 comeback win over Chelsea thanks to the goals from Romeo Lavia and Adam Armstrong.
