In each of the previous four seasons, Juventus have cruised to the Serie A title. This campaign, however, there are at least four or five teams who have the capacity to win the Scudetto crown.

Roberto Mancini's Inter Milan are currently leading the way but the likes of Napoli, Fiorentina and Juventus are hot on their heels. Meanwhile, it would be foolish to forget Roma, who are just seven points behind the Nerazzurri after 16 matches. We take a look at the leading contenders and consider who might come out on top this season.

Juve are the defending champions but they're almost unrecognisable from last season. Yes, they still have Paul Pogba pulling the strings in midfield but they have sorely missed Arturo Vidal's aggression, Carlos Tevez's energy and Andre Pirlo's precision throughout the early stages of the campaign. However, Juve have got it right in recent weeks and have won their last six Serie A matches. If they maintain their current form after the festive break, they will be well placed to mount a title challenge.

Inter Milan
After 16 matches, Inter have established a slender four-point lead at the top of Serie A. Roberto Mancini invested heavily in the summer transfer window and that decision has paid dividends in the early stages of the campaign. The likes of Felipe Melo, Geoffrey Kondogbia and Stevan Jovetic have all settled immediately at the San Siro and Inter have shown plenty of quality in recent weeks, none more so than in the 4-0 victory away at Udinese last week. They will be tough to beat and are looking very strong, particularly on home soil.

Napoli's record against Italy's top-ranked clubs is phenomenal and that is a key reason why they are fighting at the top of the table. They have recovered well after a stuttering start and Gonzalo Higuain, who has netted 14 goals already this season, has been instrumental so far this campaign. There is a long way to go but Napoli are looking exceptionally good and could claim their first Serie A title since 1990 on current form. They are at the time of writing valued at 6/4 in the Serie A betting markets, and Maurizio Sarri's men will stand a great chance of justifying these odds if they maintain their form against Italy's elite sides.

Despite an inconsistent start to the campaign, Roma are also in with a chance of winning the league this season. Roma haven't been at their best but have kept in contention and will strongly believe in their philosophy. Rudi Garcia has a number of talented stars at his disposal and the likes of Gervinho, Kevin Strootman and Edin Dzeko have all had the experience of winning major competitions in the past. These players will be crucial to Roma's chances and if they perform well, who knows, they could go on to lift the title this season.

SO, just who will win the title?
One of these four teams, along with Fiorentina, will win the Scudetto trophy this season. AC Milan have potential but aren't quite there yet, while the rest aren't good enough to challenge Italy's major clubs. It's almost impossible to pick a winner at this moment but one thing's for sure, neutrals will be treated to some fantastic football across Serie A throughout the remainder of the campaign.
