Chelsea defender David Luiz has indicated that it took a couple of training session to convince Maurizio Sarri that he had a future with the club. The Brazilian had a difficult 2017/18 campaign where he was regularly on the sidelines through injury and that saw him restricted to just 10 league appearances over the course of the season.

Speaking to The Mail, Luiz acknowledged that he was not in the good books of Maurizio Sarri shortly after the Italian was appointed as the new head coach last summer. However, he added that he was able to convince the 60-year-old over his abilities after going through a few training sessions under his tutelage.

Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson has said that there is a sense of disappointment after the Reds failed to make the most of their chances during the recent Premier League clash at Arsenal. Jurgen Klopp’s side appeared destined for another win after James Milner scored before the hour mark but they were pegged back in the final 10 minutes with Alexandre Lacazette impressively curling in the equaliser from close range.

Speaking after the game, Robertson admitted that the result is a tough one to take, given the Reds had more clear-cut opportunities to put the game to bed, he told the club’s official website: “It was a hard one because we took the lead and this season we’ve been really good at holding on to leads. I thought that was going to be the case. We lost a poor goal from our point of view. If you look back on the game they probably had more possession but the clear-cut chances have all fallen to us. On another day we could have been a bit more comfortable, but two good teams went at it and a draw is probably a fair result.”
