The permutations for likely qualifiers from the groups have begun as the groups complete their second round of games at the Euro 2016 tournament. In Group B, with England, Wales, Slovakia and Russia, likely countries to qualify is not yet clear as it could go either way for each side. The late goal from Daniel Sturridge means the Three Lions sit atop the group with four points from the two games played so far.

Wales are in second place with the three points they picked up from defeating Slovakia. Slovakia are in third place with same three points after they slid narrowly past Russia, leaving Russia last in the current standings with just a point from their draw with England in their first game.

If England win on Monday, they would be guaranteed the first spot and will face the third-place team from Group A, C or D. However, if they play a draw with Slovakia, they would still be sure of continuing but it would mean Wales could top the group if they get past Russia as they have would garnered six points leaving England with five.

If the Roy Hodgson side lose the final group encounter, they would not finish top but would still make the knockout phase only if there’s a draw in the other match. If Russia win, it would come down to goals’ difference, then goals scored and then a variety of other scenarios to determine who moves ahead. Victory for Wales would leave England in third place hoping they finish as one of the best four best third-place teams which would mean playing Germany or Spain’s group in the next stage.

England have come under fire for their performance which many describe as below expectations considering the individual brilliance of their squad members.
