Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has confirmed that the players are completely behind manager José Mourinho despite reports of some creating unrest in the dressing room.

The Belgian international recently returned to the starting line-up after an extended period on the sidelines. His absence has been felt on some occasions even though his replacement – Asmir Begovic – has been in excellent form since the start of the season.Courtois was part of the press conference ahead of the game with FC Porto. This is a must win game for Chelsea if they are to reach the last 16 stages of the Champions League.

Since the league has turned out to be a major disappointment for the club, their only hope now rests with cup competitions like the Champions League and FA Cup. Amongst these, the former holds more importance due to much bigger television money and global popularity. Chelsea are likely to shift their focus entirely towards winning the Champions League since it would represent the best possible way to get into the next season’s tournament. This is due to the significant gap opening between the blues and the final top four spot. Mourinho had been confident of finishing in the top four up until now, but he has become sceptical after the 1-0 loss against Bournemouth.

"Results don't say we are not committed to the manager. I think we still are confident in the manager and we are trying to get out of it with him. Last season it was a bit difficult with the other goalkeeper [Petr Cech] that was here but the relationship remained good and professional I don't know why the press like to invent these things. A team as Chelsea, their goal has to be to win the Champions League so obviously we don't want to play in the Europa League," saidCourtois.
