The manager of Chelsea, Jose Mourinho, has said that his team has a very good chance now of making it to the next round of the Champions League.

Chelsea secured a convincing victory over the Romanian club Steaua Bucuresti yesterday and moved up in the Group E points table. The Blues are now at no. 3 with 3 points.

Chelsea had been beaten by the Swiss side FC Basel in its opening Champions League game this season. That defeat had put pressure on them and they badly needed a win against Bucuresti. Had they not been able to defeat Bucuresti, they would have gone very close to being knocked out of the competition. But, Jose Mourinho’s boys rose to the occasion and put up a real quality performance against the Romanian side.

Ramires was the player who stood out for Chelsea against Bucuresti. The 26 years old midfielder found the back of the net a couple of times and helped his team secure 3 points.

Talking to the reporters at the end of the game, Mourinho said, “It was an important game. We had to win. Had we not won, we would have put ourselves under huge pressure.”
“We showed maturity today and didn’t make the mistakes that we had made against Basel.”

“Now, we are going to play against Schalke twice and we will have to secure points against them.”

Schalke is yet to be beaten in the Champions League this season. They have won both their games so far and are currently at the top of the Group E points table. They will be facing Chelsea twice in the next 4 weeks. The first of those games will be played at Veltins-Arena on 22nd of October, while, the second one will take place at Stamford Bridge on 6th of November.
