Diego Costa played for 10 minutes during Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Stoke City which was played at Stamford Bridge on April 4. The Brazilian born Spain international player underwent a number of scans and it has been revealed that the forward will not be able to play at least until May.

The hamstring injury that Diego Costa sustained will force the player to stay out of the playing grounds during a number of crucial Premier League matches of Chelsea. April represents a fairly tough road for Chelsea in the Premier League as Jose Mourinho and his players have to face off with: Manchester United, Arsenal and Leicester City.

Costa is the leading top goal-scorer of Chelsea and he will not be able to play in any of those matches due to recent injury. This isn’t the first time that the 26 year old player will be missing out from a significant amount of games as he has already suffered from hamstring injuries in the past.

During a pre-season training of Athletic Madrid, Costa sustained a knee injury that left him out of the majority of the 2011-12 season. Injuries have even forced the goal-scorer on having to be out of the playing grounds for the Spanish national football team.
Jose Mourinho is going to have to find another goal-scoring alternative for the remaining matches that Chelsea has to play during the month of April. Costa has managed to score 19 goals in 24 appearances and the next goal-scoring player of Jose Mourinho is Eden Hazard who has found the back of the net on 12 occasions.

A few weeks ago Chelsea was knocked out of the Champions League after losing against PSG as the French side won on away goals and Mourinho stated that this result put his team on a good situation as they can now solely focus on the Premier League and give his main players more days to rest.

Jose Mourinho said: "The fact that we went out was frustrating but it gives us a situation where we can work properly, rest properly and finish the season in a very strong way."

The Portuguese manager is clearly focused on winning the Premier League in this season and he is hoping that the recent injury of Diego Costa does not affect his team’s performances for the upcoming matches as it could hamper their chances on winning the league.
